The Rev. Samuel Schor was born of Hebrew / Christian parents in 1859 at Jerusalem, where he spent his childhood.
He arrived in England in 1885 and was the first Palestinian native to be ordained in St. Paul’s Cathedral, which took place in 1889. After serving two curacies in Spital Square, London and Felixstowe, he became the Manager of the Palestine Exhibition with which his name is closely allied.
He became Vicar at Christ Church, Blackpool in 1914; and in 1923 became Director of The Barbican Mission to the Jews. A well-known prophetic speaker and author of several books, he maintained a vital ministry until ill health compelled him to retire in 1926.
He died on 9th November, 1933 at his home in Longfield, Kent.
